Overview

SISTARS KITCHEN is a humble gem tucked away in Happy Mansion, Petaling Jaya, offering a nostalgic dive into Malaysian street food culture. The eatery’s unpretentious setting, nestled within a low-cost flat complex, mirrors the authentic flavors it serves—simple, comforting, and rich in tradition. This spot is ideal for locals and food enthusiasts seeking an honest taste of classic Malaysian desserts and mains without the fuss.

The highlight here is undoubtedly their cendol, frequently praised for its balanced sweetness and fresh coconut milk, with finely shaved ice lending a perfect texture that refreshes on humid days. This dish stands as a testament to the brand’s focus on delivering traditional flavors with care and precision. Alongside cendol, the ABC (air batu campur) provides a similar cooling experience, though some suggest it could be punchier in flavor. Both desserts are emblematic of Malaysian heritage, attracting regulars who appreciate true-to-form recipes.

SISTARS KITCHEN also excels in its savory offerings, particularly the Choy Poh Chee Cheong Fun and the intriguing Nyonya Laksa. These items reflect the rich culinary diversity of Malaysia, combining textures and spices that evoke a strong sense of place and culture. Dishes like Nasi Lemak Rendang Chicken and Mee Siam round out the menu, catering to those who want an all-encompassing Malaysian dining experience in one spot. The presence of traditional kuih muih, sourced from Aroma Nyonya, adds a sweet touch to the meal, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to quality and heritage.

The experience at SISTARS KITCHEN is casual and straightforward: order at the counter and find a spot among the modest seating arrangements. Parking can be a minor challenge due to the location within a residential block, but the convenience of free parking during off-peak times is a plus. The atmosphere buzzes with local diners, from office workers taking a lunch break to families seeking comfort food, suggesting the kitchen’s appeal spans diverse groups. Friendly and efficient service from the staff fosters a welcoming environment that complements the laid-back charm.

In summary, SISTARS KITCHEN offers an immersive taste of Malaysian culinary tradition through its signature desserts and well-curated mains. Its unpretentious location, flavorful menu, and authentic execution make it a worthy stop for anyone wanting to experience local favorites prepared with heart. For those in Petaling Jaya or passing through, this kitchen represents not just a meal but a connection to the everyday food culture cherished across the region.

Came here for dessert and was happy with the ABC (air batu campur) and cendol. The right level of sweetness, fresh coconut milk and fine shaved ice. Sat on the sidewalk as it was a busy afternoon.

Saw several foodies highlighting the place; its at an apartment hence parking can be difficult. The star meal is the cendol, its good.. but can be better? But overall still okay There is another restaurnat behind the cafe which has reasonable priced food as well

I regularly go to Sistars and enjoy the ABC, Cendol plus the variety of kuih muih. My fave food order is the Choy Poh Chee Cheong Fun while I only had the elusive and flavourful Nyonya Laksa once over a weekend. Yeo and May are friendly folks and the staff there are efficient and provide good service. The free parking area (though limited during peak hours) makes Sistars an enjoyable food and dessert stop each time I am there.

Read rave reviews about the cendol so had to try since I was in the neighbourhood. Tucked away in the middle of a row of shops on the ground floor of a block of low cost flats, this unpretentious little eatery was brimming with office diners when I popped in for lunch. Order at the counter and go hunt for a free table. The cendol was true to reviews, it was rich, with just the right level of sweetness and topped with fresh condiments. A most refreshing delight on a hot stifling day. The mee siam was so-so, nothing I would be back for. But the cendol I would definitely make a return trip for! Note - parking is a challenge with limited spaces in the flat compounds.

The place seems quite unchanged from the time of it's predecessor. Most importantly, the cendol is good. They will ask you about the sugar level - go for the normal. The sweetness is just right. If you reduce, the kick will not be there. The cendol also has a good texture. However, the ABC was a bit too subtle. Both are priced at RM6.50. The also have mains like nasi lemak, mee siam, and CCF. The kuih is from Aroma Nyonya. Not difficult to find a table on a Sunday afternoon.

Very nice cendol here. Very clean and neat yet nostalgic place for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.. with simple eats like nasi lemak, plain chee cheong fun, mee siam, rojak, prawn fritter, nyonya kuehs etc etc.. to go with Cendol.. Very friendly smiley boss.

Wanted to try this out for a while. Came over for lunch and there was a queue near the counter. Figured that you have to place your order, pay and then wait for your food. My Mee Siam with chicken rendang is good but the Mee Siam could be more tangy and sour. The Sambal that goes with it is nice. The chee cheong fun wasn’t so good. The cendol is very nice with a good gula melaka flavor. Service was fast as all food is already prepared.
